Movie of optical acquisition and tracking of LEO satellite in NICT optical goround station

@This page is providing movies recorded in the NICT optical ground station (OGS) in Koganei, Tokyo. The satellite is JAXA's Kirari (OICETS) satellite, which is a low earth orbit (LEO) one at the altitude of 600 km. The photo and movies below were taken on 28 March, 2006. The video camera was placed at the top of the telescope tube.

Sequence of experiments
  • Calculation of Kirari's orbit
  • Programmed tracking start
  • Laser transmission start from NICT OGS (El. =15 deg.)
  • Immediately, reception of laser beam from satellite
  • During about 6 minutes, successful tracking
  • Laser transmission end from Kirari at the end of the planned experiment time
  • Laser transmission end from NICT OGS (El. =15 deg.)
